Neighborhood French Classes
Interested in learning French from the comfort of your own home? Or from your favorite coffee shop with friends?
We can help! We are a boutique neighborhood language school offering private French classes in Southern Village neighborhood, and beyond ... in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. We specialize in pre-vacation conversation practice, private lessons and tutoring, AP/IB preparation, special events, weekly conversation groups, and online lessons tailored to your personal goals.
We also offer a range of beginner to intermediate French language classes in small-group settings for children or adults, focused on building confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing for enjoyable communication in French.
Who we are ...
At Village du Sud School of French, our mission is to build a sense of community in Southern Village and beyond, amongst people who want to use the French language more confidently as a part of their daily lives.
To do this, we provide high-quality language activities in a deeply supportive learning environment that encourages students to reach their full potential as French-speakers.
Your instructor, Kirsten Kane, holds a Ph.D. in French literature from UNC Chapel Hill, and is extensively trained in French pedagogy. She has taught four levels of French at UNC across seven years as a Graduate Teaching Fellow (French 101, 102, 105, and 203). She lived in France and taught for a year at Université Paul-Valéry in Montpellier.
Whether you are a new learner looking to start from the beginning, an intermediate learner looking to enhance your fluency, or if you would like to practice a bit before traveling, spending time in our activities can help you achieve your objectives.
